THE CONDITION OF THIS WATCH This particular example is in especially good condition. The case has never been polished but the lugs show very clear chamfers. The dial has lovely creamy yellow lume plots and the original hands match the lume plot colours. The case is numbered and engraved in all the right places and the bracelet is 100% original to the watch. RAIL DIAL The definition of a Rail Dial is when the gaps between the words ‘Superlative' and Chronometer' and Officially' and Certified' are aligned. It's not something you would necessarily notice unless you're tuned onto it, but once you've noticed it you never forget to look for it – it's a silly anomaly - which is one of the reasons why collectors love them – another being that they're very rare, in fact they were only made on Sea Dwellers between 1977 and 1979 and they were only made for Rolex by the Stern dial makers (the same family of Patek Philippe fame). You can also find the rail dial on the 1665 COMEX and on the 1655 Explorer II.
